|The Dick Goodwin Big Band|
|Classy music, classy performance, classy events|
The Dick Goodwin Big Band has a huge and incredibly versatile repertory as well as a huge and incredibly strong fan base!
Specializing of course in the traditional big band numbers ("In the Mood," "Sing, Sing, Sing," "At Last," "Sentimental Journey," etc.) that are again in vogue with dancers and listeners of all ages, the band is also known for its incredible performances of current hit tunes, old time rock, beach music, party favorites, and specialty music such as line dances, swing, Latin and Jewish inspired numbers, country, polkas, waltzes, fanfares, processionals, grand marches, and more.
This group is a hands-down favorite for major events in the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia, including conventions, country club affairs, weddings, company and association parties, debutante balls, bar and bat mitzvahs, inaugural balls, charity functions, art openings, and stage shows.
Dick and the Big Band have just recorded an album of “rat pack” music (Sinatra, Sammy Davis,Jr., and Dean Martin tunes) with the Palmetto Mastersingers. Dick's horn section continues to be in demand and played a return engagement with the Temptations; he and others in the band have performed for such entertainers as Natalie Cole, Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, the Guy Lombardo and Tommy Dorsey orchestras, the Spinners, Henry Mancini, the Temptations, Rich Little, Gregory Hines, Ray Price, Barbara Eden, Les and Larry Elgart, Toni Tennille, and the Platters.
The group has 18 music degrees and tons of professional experience between them. Leader/arranger Dick Goodwin is a professor at the University of South Carolina, where he teaches music composition and writes the music for the marching band half-time shows. In addition to traveling with the Big Band, Dick has toured numerous times to Latin America and to Germany with the Dick Goodwin Jazz Quintet.
